​   Forward Movement Transitioning Initiative, Inc (FMTI)

​Forward Movement Transitioning Initiative, Inc (FMTI) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses  resources, and organizational collaborations to endure/provide an active resourceful presence in the community.

Our organization focuses on building holistic programs and education, which comprise of career development and counseling for Military Veterans and formally incarcerated adults.

Our continuum of care, is equipped by professionals with cultural backgrounds and life experiences that coincide with those of our clients.  FMTI serves the city of Dallas, which is the third-largest city in Texas and the seat of Dallas County.

 In 2015, the city of Dallas held a poverty level of 24%, which was significantly higher that the poverty level in the United States of 13.5%.
The city's population at 125% below poverty levels consisted
​of Hispanic or Latino (40.6%), Black or African American (39.6%)
and American Indian and Alaska Native (38.6%).  
Poverty levels were even higher in South Dallas, 75210 (49.8%), Southeast Dallas, 75215 (35.8%), and Southwest Dallas, 75237 (30%).  

The current unemployment rate of Dallas County is 4.5%.  
In 2015, there were 101,226 Veterans living in Dallas County and 46,700 living in the city of Dallas.  Individuals returning home from incarceration are faced with recidivism due to unemployment.
Our vision is to provide self growth and enhancement, while embracing and contributing continuous support for Military Veterans and adults who have been affected by the Criminal Justice System.
